Glass fibre reinforcement for concrete

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS

Assess the material against the project requirements

Corrosion exposure, magnetic influence or electrical requirements can make non-metallic reinforcement relevant. GFRP combines glass fibres with a polymer matrix and is available as bars and mesh.

We supply FiReP reinforcement products for concrete structures. Material selection and detailing must be based on the selected system and the structural design; this is not a like-for-like substitution based only on bar diameter.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Where the solution can be relevant

Corrosion-exposed concrete

Projects where moisture, salt or other exposure makes corrosion resistance an important selection criterion.

Magnetically sensitive installations

Structures around equipment where non-magnetic reinforcement can be relevant.

Electrical and handling requirements

Projects where electrical insulation or low reinforcement weight forms part of the requirements.

Properties to consider in system selection

Corrosion resistance

Non-metallic reinforcement avoids the steel-corrosion mechanism. Exposure and material suitability must still be checked for the system.

Non-magnetic and insulating

Magnetic neutrality and electrical insulation are relevant properties when the installation has specific requirements.

Bond and tensile properties

Profiled bars provide bond with concrete. Tensile properties and all design values must be established from the applicable product documentation.

Low weight in handling

Low component weight can simplify transport and handling on site. Cutting and installation must follow the system instructions.

WHAT WE CAN DELIVER

Bars and mesh for concrete reinforcement

FiReP REBAR

FiReP REBAR

Non-metallic reinforcement bars for concrete structures. The profiled surface supports bond with concrete; the required design properties must be taken from the selected product documentation.

FiReP Powermesh

FiReP Powermesh

Glass fibre reinforcement mesh for concrete. Mesh configuration and joints form part of the system that must be assessed against the design requirements.

From requirements to an agreed delivery

01 — Design basis

Describe the structure, exposure and functional requirements.

02 — System documentation

Identify the product data needed by the structural designer.

03 — Reinforcement layout

Coordinate bar or mesh requirements with the project design.

04 — Supply and installation

Agree quantities, delivery and relevant handling instructions.
